SKC GENERAL INFORMATION
The style of karate we practice is known as Shotokan.
It is the method originally pioneered by the Okinawan Master Gichin Funakoshi and further developed in Japan by Master Masatoshi Nakayama.
Background
The SKC was formed in 2004 with the stated objective to foster, administer and generally advance the art of traditional Shotokan karate. Our goal is to educate, motivate, guide and honour our students and instructors whilst promoting excellence in karate ethics.
We strive to inspire our members by conducting regular courses, gasshukus, seminars, kyu and dan gradings, and by staging karate competitions for adults and children.
It is the Shotokan Karate Coalition’s policy to develop friendly liaisons with experts from other fighting arts and karate styles, as well as to affiliate itself with persons, groups and organizations it considers will benefit its instructors and members.
SKC Member Dojos
The SKC currently has member dojos in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and New Zealand.
